Solopreneurship 101: Learn how to productize your knowledge & build a gentle one-person business online

Today I wanted to share with you how you can start a solo business online. So I am basically taking you behind the scenes of how I created mine so that hopefully you can use this as a template to create yours in the near future. So look at this as more or less of a masterclass on how to build a solo business online and productize your expertise, knowledge, and talent and sell it to your ideal audience. It is divided into seven specific sections.

We will start by sharing the purpose behind my business and how it came to be and how you can do the same, how I build my offer suite, how I sell and serve my ideal audience, how I built my personal brand and connect on a personal level with my audience, how I designed my website on my digital home, how I promote my business, and finally how I registered my LLC.

1.     Vision & Purpose

My journey into building this solo business has been more than just a professional endeavor. It is been a culmination of all my 17 years of experience as a feminine entrepreneur in the beauty industry, as an e-commerce business coach, as a Christian woman, and introverted creator. I have had the opportunity to build and launch my beauty line and from that dream becoming a reality emanated this business that I love so much.

So through the years I have had people asking me how they can take the idea to market the same way that I did with building my own beauty brand. So I want you to look at your life and all the lessons and skills that you have accumulated along the way and find a way to package that into an offer that you can sell online.

Nothing in life just happens, all our experiences allow us to bring about the dreams that God has put on our hearts. So look at what is in your hand, what you can’t stop thinking about, what people always want you to help them with. Business is about selling what people want to buy.

So zero in into what you know and how you can sell that to your ideal audience. If you are still on the fence and not sure how to get started, I will recommend you watch my episode on how to find your sweet spot as a multi-passionate creator. I give you the basis that you need to get started.

So I had already had an idea of what I wanted to do and who I wanted to serve but this time around I wanted to show up in my fullness, bringing my unique voice and my unique perspective to the forefront and letting God breathe into this new venture.

I know who I am and what I bring as a woman and I am building a gentle business that is centered around my feminine essence and building from a place that is creative, dedicated and resilient. So basically the part of myself that should connect with like-minded creators.

So as I grew in this field, I realized that I wanted to build a business that reflects my femininity. As I said, my early experiences in business showed me that the traditional hustle girl boss approach wasn’t sustainable or fulfilling to me. Instead, I wanted to create a business that I could show up in my creative, nurturing, leading from a place of intuition, creativity and connection.

So drawing from years of experience, I developed an office suite to address the real challenge that we face as people as we try to build a business online. I created digital products, coaching services and practical resources that I would have wanted when I started out.

These tools are designed to address issues like overwhelm, long hours of research, time management, timeliness in business so that you can take your expertise and turn it to something actionable and impactful that people are ready to buy.

So my goal here is to help you make meaningful progress without sacrificing the things that matter most to you, your time, your creativity and your peace of mind. I bring my expertise to each and every one of my products and services, but it is also my faith and my desire to serve that inspire my work with purpose. For me, this feminine approach means allowing my natural resilience, empathy and creativity guide my business.

As women, we bring unique strength to entrepreneurship and honoring these qualities has given me a more holistic, if you will, a fulfilling way to show up in my work.

This journey has taught me that building a business doesn’t mean pushing myself into exhaustion, like it is about showing up with authenticity, balancing, if that is possible, hard work with self-compassion and allowing God to lead me to unexpected end.

2.     Building my offer suite

So I created my offer rethinking of the person that I was 10 years ago, right? I remember investing significant time, energy, money into numerous programs. While they were all well-intentioned, they fell short at times. I found myself wading through theory after theory and feeling lost and unsupported with practical and real-world skills that I needed to build a successful business. So that is when it struck me, especially since I kept getting the same questions, how do I get this from idea to launching to selling a product?

So I looked at all the frustrations that we go through and I looked at ways in which I can build a fulfilling and sustainable business. So my offer suite was born from the desire to provide practical knowledge and holistic support that I felt was lacking in traditional programs. So every single resource, whether it is free or paid, is designed to be hands-on, accessible, and full of real-world guidance.

So my hope is that it doesn’t only help you grow your business, but also enriches your journey towards personal development and fulfillment. I believe in giving value upfront. So even if someone doesn’t purchase from me, they still can walk away feeling better equipped about a specific skill. So in creating my suite, I thought about how to make my brand both functional and encouraging. I wanted a mix of free and paid options, so that anyone can benefit from my expertise. Free videos like my videos, my blog posts, help people get to know me and build trust over time.

I often tell people that while you build a personal brand, you need to be a bit patient. Give your audience time to see the value in you and in your offer, so that they can trust the work that you are putting in and buying into the vision. So I want to encourage you to think about what you can offer the world around you.

Sit down and list your skills, your experiences, your ideas. What results have you achieved that others might need help with? Are there problems that you know how to solve? From there, start brainstorming how you can turn them into offers that you can sell online. Remember, your offer suite doesn’t have to look like mine.

It doesn’t have to be massive. As a matter of fact, you can start with one good offer. Start with what you know best and build from there.

Also think about how you can serve your audience at different stages of their journey. Some might need a quick resource to get started, while some might need an in-depth coaching or program. The point is to think about what your audience needs as they grow and position yourself as a reliable and insightful guide for each step of the way.

3. Sales strategies & value mapping

So my goal is to meet my ideal audience where they are on their journey. I see them as being on a unique path. I have designed my whole brand experience around guiding them through every stage with intention, value, and ease.

I look at them as being on a hero’s journey and I am going to add value to that hero of my story, which is YOU. So we are going to look at six specific stages of the customer journey and how I build mine and how I am found. So the first one is awareness.

  • VALUE MAPPING OF THE CUSTOMER JOURNEY

  1. Awareness: they discover me through an organic search of my content or social media or referral. So those are some of my touch points.

  2. Consideration: So as they explore further, they might visit my website, my Pinterest, my YouTube channel, or perhaps find my offers on a marketplace where I sell my offers as well.

  3. Evaluation: they weigh in the option, they read through the testimonials and they check out my shop page. They look over the resources, they ask me questions, they shoot me an email so that they make sure that my offer aligns with their needs.

  4. Purchase: now that they are ready to take the next step, they have evaluated the offer and they choose to invest into a product that speaks exactly to what they are looking for, whether it is a detail guide, a toolkit, or another resource.

  5. Experience: they get to experience my offers and my goal here is really to give them the clarity and the direction that they need. So with each tool, I am basically designing it to empower you and give you actionable steps, giving you the structure that you need so that you don’t waste a lot of time to build your project with confidence.

  6. Loyalty: which is ideally the place that I want to be in where people literally resonate so much with my offer that they recommend it to other people and basically becoming ambassadors of my brand, which I find very meaningful when I meet people who feel like what I do aligns with them. It feels like the greatest honor of all.

So I have a value mapping system at each and every touch point. From the start, I provide tools and resources designed to serve. Whether through my bootcamp blog I spoke about or this video tutorial or my professionally designed website.

I want my brand to be trustworthy and approachable so that people can approach it and learn more and obviously convert and become loyal customers.

So one of my biggest commitments is to help you build a sustainable and authentic brand without compromising who you are. That is why I have mapped up my value, each step of the journey with intention, making sure that no matter where you engage with me, you walk away with something meaningful that supports you on your journey.

So let me show you how I structure or how I approach sales so that to make it as user-friendly as possible. So the first thing that I do is bundle my offers. I show them to you and cross sell them.

  • BUNDLING & CROSS-SELLING

So my signature offer are available in bundles so that people can save while getting a compressed comprehensive set of resources. I also cross-sell so for example once they purchase one product they might receive 25% discount on another product that complements it. Then I do also special discounts and affiliates like right now I am running a 50% off sale on my digital offers but I also run an affiliate program where people make 25% commission by promoting my offer with the audiences.

  • LEAD MAGNETS & FREE RESOURCES

I have lead magnets and free resources that I spoke about. Those are the gateway into my offerings allowing people to experience my work without the upfront commitment. So the main lead magnets right now are my bootcamp, my free call and obviously when they sign up for my community on Substack.

  • PROFESSIONALLY DESIGNED SALES PAGES

I make sure that my sales page are designed with care using engaging graphics and copies so that it is attention-grabbing but it is also well laid out as to what I solve and the solution that I provide and maybe any potential objections that they might have. So I make sure to highlight the benefits and have a strong call to action and also make sure that the checkout process is smooth and frustration free.

4.     Brand Building

So I believe that building a brand is as much about embracing who you are as it is about delivering value. My brand reflects my Christian values, my journey as a solopreneur, my passion for helping others succeed on their own terms.

  • STRATEGY & POSITIONING

So I want to create an experience that feels real and relatable, not polished to perfection but genuine and aligned with my values. So I share my experiences openly and I also don’t shy away from bringing up my full self to my brand because I believe that authenticity will resonate with people with similar values.

So ultimately my goal is to create a brand online that feels true to myself, that feels so authentic and share the same with you so you can step confidently into your own creative and entrepreneur journey.

So whether you are just starting up or scaling up, I hope that whatever I share and whatever resources are created can help you at every stage of your journey. So building a brand is more than just the aesthetics, right? It is about creating a cohesive experience that speaks to who you are and what you stand for.

So what I wanted was a true reflection of my values, my vision and the journey that I have been on but I also wanted people to join into that journey if I can say so. So the colors that I have chosen are very intentional and they are designed to convey a sense of calm, encouragement and creativity. So creating a visual identity starts with a clear understanding of what you want your brand to communicate.

  • VISUAL IDENTITY

For me that meant designing a look that felt authentic, feminine and timeless. Since my brand is personal, I decided to use my initial AI as the foundation of my logo. It is simple, geometric and curvy and it feels uniquely mine and it conveys really simplicity and elegance.

So each color on my brand’s palette was chosen to evoke specific qualities:

  • The beige is a grounding color symbolizing unity, calm and simplicity.

  • The dark and deep blue reflect stability, confidence and tranquility which are important pillars of my brand.

  • The yellow which is a vibrant touch to inspire joy, optimism and really warmth, adding a burst of positivity to my brand’s overall feel.

These colors don’t just go well together, they represent emotions and experiences that I share with my clients. So tools like Canva make it easy to experiment with these palettes and it is the one that I use to create my whole brand identity and it helps you find the exact shade that feels good to you.

So if creating a brand identity feels a bit overwhelming, you can always seek help from professionals on platforms like Fiverr or Upwork.

I feel like they offer affordable design services if you need support in developing a logo or brand identity. I have also designed a toolkit that can help you with the whole process of building a brand that aligns with your business needs and values.

So I want to also talk about fonts because they play a crucial role in how a brand feels right. I wanted my typography to be clean, modern and approachable so I chose a mix of sans serif and a slab font.

So for my website I use sans serif fonts to keep things clean, easy to read. For more creative content and promotional material, I blend the slab serif to my sans serif to add a bit of character and warmth. So every font can evoke a different feeling or response so it is essential to choose one that aligns with your brand’s message.

Whether you are aiming for something minimalist, bold or whimsical, your typography should reinforce your brand’s personality. Mine is certainly minimal and feminine like I said before. My brand isn’t just about visuals, it is about how it sounds and feels.

  • CHOOSING ARCHETYPES & MESSAGING

As a personal brand, I want every interaction to feel like a conversation that is uplifting, calm and encouraging and also informative. I aim for a tone that is soothing and spiritual, one that feels like a guidance from a friend. So my writing includes a friendly style and educational style.

So to achieve this consistency, I have drawn inspiration from brand archetypes, specifically the sage and the creator. So the sage represents wisdom, guidance and a quest for truth while the creator embodies innovation, imagination and transformation. Together these archetypes help me shape a brand that is both insightful and empowering or should I say encouraging.

So if you are new to brand archetypes, think about your values and how you want your brand to be perceived. These archetypes provide you with a useful framework to build a brand that resonates deeply with your audience. So lastly with my storytelling, it is something that I use to connect with my client on a meaningful level.

  • STORYTELLING

So I see the entrepreneur journey as a quest, a path filled with discovery, challenges and growth. So this quest narrative is included into my content from the blog posts to social media posts where I aim to guide clients through each stage of building a business online. So the strategy that I use is very simple.

I speak to where my audience is now and where they want to go. Remember what we said about the hero’s journey. It is about acknowledging the obstacles they face and showing them a roadmap from problem to solution with each stage bringing them closer to success.

So this journey focused storytelling helps me not only engage but also supports my clients as they build, grow and scale their businesses. So here are the key stages of the story. There is a call to action, this is where they recognize the desire to start something new.

There is a rising action facing and overcoming challenges with the right tools and mindset. Then there is a resolution reaching a place of fulfillment where their business thrives and grows. So this narrative guides my strategy and help me write the hero’s journey in a more clear line.

5.     Building a high-converting and user-friendly website

A website is essential for any brand and if like me you don’t rely heavily on social media, your website serves as a digital home, a central place where your client can learn about you, explore your offering and connect with you.

So unlike social media, a website is a space you have full control where you can share your message without the limitation or the distraction of other platforms. And because first impressions are everything, a professionally designed website builds credibility and trust.

It showcases your brand’s full identity and provides you with a seamless experience for your clients looking to learn more about who you are and what you offer. I have designed mine to be simple and user-friendly, guiding clients through their journey while giving them a clear sense of what my brand’s purpose is and value. So it is designed very minimally.

  • PLATFORM & DESIGN TOOLS

So when it came to choose a platform for my website, I went with WordPress and the reason I did that is because it allows you to truly own your website. Unlike platforms that I have used in the past like Shopify, Squarespace and Wix which you essentially rent but WordPress gives you complete control and ownership. So you also have the freedom to really customize and scale your website without limitation.

So I use a web hosting service called Hostinger. I found a reliable foundation to support my website growth. So I am not affiliated with either one but it is just something to think about as you build your business. Please check out my website builder kit for more information on how you can build yours.

So to design my site, I used a plugin called Elementor. It is a tool that allows you to add specific features and customization to your website. This made it easy for me to bring my brand vision to life by adding unique branding element from colors to fonts to ensure a cohesive look that matches my visual identity.

If you are looking to create a custom website without a coding background, this plugin could be the best way to start. Please keep in mind that I am not affiliated and that I have some background in creating a website, so this might not work for you if you are a beginner but this is a good plugin for design and Yoast SEO is also a great one to get started with if you want your website to be SEO friendly.

  • PAYMENT & MARKETPLACES

For payment processing I chose Stripe as my main gateway but I also sell my products on marketplaces such as Payhip and Gumroad. So having multiple touch points means that my ideal customer can find me wherever they feel comfortable shopping.

So this approach has broadened my reach and made my offering accessible across multiple platforms catering to different customer preferences. So you might think of diversifying your payment options also adding convenience to for international customers as many platforms support different currencies and payment methods. So it is about creating a seamless shopping experience no matter where your customer finds you.

  • SITE MAPPING & USER FRIENDLY DESIGN

So when planning my website I focused on clarity and usability, I made sure to map out structure that serves both my business goals and my clients needs. So each page has a clear purpose and I have set up a range of sections to make navigation intuitive. So here is a breakdown of my site layout:

  • I have my home page which is where visitors learn about my brand and vision. I have a membership where I am currently enrolling people on my wait list.

  • I have a free resource page which is a place where I house my free guides and tools.

  • Then I have a blog page which is where the educational content is and where my audience can learn from.

  • I have a shop page where it is a store where all my products and services are and also I have all my legal pages to ensure compliance.

  • I have an affiliate page dedicated to affiliate information and enrollment.

  • I have a coaching page obviously also where they can seek me for deeper support. So each page acts as a mini sales page if you will leading visitors towards taking actions whether it is signing up, purchasing, exploring my free resource sets.

  • SEO STRATEGY

It is really about optimizing for search, every element is really carefully planned for to make my site as user-friendly and search engine friendly as possible. Search engine optimization is crucial for helping my audience find me online.

So I have implemented several practices to ensure that my site is visible and optimized for search engines without risking penalties. So here are some of the key were the key the key SEO element that I focus on. Title tag and meta descriptions, image optimization, long tail keyword to make sure that I attract a specific audience looking for what I have, internal links.

These help with site navigation and keep visitors exploring related content. I have a content structure when I use clear headings, subheadings to improve a readability and indexing. I have a video on how you can create SEO friendly content, please check it out if you need more information on that.

  • INTEGRATION & POLICIES

So as I continue to refine my site, I am also working on speed optimization as faster sites rank higher and better user experience. I regularly update my content, monitor my analytics and make improvements over time to keep my site relevant and discoverable. I prioritize a simple seamless checkout experience for my customers.

Like I said, I have integrated with Payhip directly on my website so that when clients click on a product, they’re taken straight to a checkout, reducing friction and ensuring that the buying process is as quick and easy as possible as to enhance satisfaction and conversion rates.

So a trustworthy website needs a clear and accessible policies to be legally protected. I have already spoken about how I have my policies in place to make sure that I give my visitors transparency and confidence in ways in which they’re going to interact with my brand.

These pages are just not legal necessity, but they reassure clients that I am a professional and safe space. So think about that as you build your own as well. I have also integrated with code, obviously, to Substack as a way to give my visitors an easy way to subscribe and stay connected.

So I have a site that is designed to align with my brand values and my audience’s needs. So if you are building your own site, remember to focus on ownership, usability and creating a seamless path for your audience. With a thoughtful strategy, you can build platforms that not only serve your business goals, but also give a real value and lasting impression to your ideal customers.

6.     Marketing & PR Plan

The strategy that I use to acquire customers starts with creating valuable content across multiple platforms. This means that whether I am sharing an insight through my podcast, creating videos on YouTube, or writing on my blog, or writing on my sub stack, I am building awareness and nurturing connection from the very beginning.

  • CONTENT STRATEGY

Each piece of content is created to draw my audience in, offering value and guidance that speaks directly to where they are. So when you diversify your content platforms, you are meeting potential customers in different spaces.

Some might prefer to listen to a podcast, other might love reading blogs, while others might be drawn to video. This variety helps broaden your reach and makes your content accessible across different preferences.

So you can turn one piece of written content into multiple forms of content, so that you can share multiple platforms. That’s essentially my content strategy, but I understand that you might have a different one. Think of what works for you and for your audience.

I have chosen to sell my products on a few key platforms, my website, Pinterest, I am a verified merchant, PayHip, and Gumroad. These marketplaces allow me to reach different segments of my audience, but not spreading myself too thin.

I can focus on optimizing each platform to better connect with potential clients. While there are many more options, I have decided to stick with these core channels because they align best with my brand and my sales strategy. So selecting a few key platforms that resonate with your audience and your brand is often more effective than trying to be everywhere.

It allows you to build a presence where you can make the most impact and establish consistent professional image. For social media, I have chosen to Pinterest and YouTube because they are search engines.

  • PRICING & SALES STRATEGIES

When it comes to pricing, I balance the value my product brings with affordability, my goal is to make my offers accessible while ensuring that the price reflects the value that I provide.

This way I am not only bringing customers high quality resources, but also building a sense of trust so people know they’re getting a fair deal that is worth investing in. So if you are pricing your products, consider your ideal client’s budget while also factoring in the unique value that you bring.

Transparent and thoughtful pricing can enhance your brand reputation and encourage long-term customer loyalty. I have built a cohesive content strategy that is closely aligned with my brand’s message and my storytelling style. My ideal clients are on their own journey.

  • SEO & CONTENT MAPPING

My content is designed to inform, inspire, and support them along the way. With a blog, podcast, and a YouTube channel, I am able to reach my audience in multiple formats, each crafted to address their needs and offer encouragement. So as you create your content, think about your audience.

Are they just learning about your industry or are they ready to take the next step? Tailor your content to their needs so that you can foster a sense of connection and keep them engaged. So to ensure that my efforts are working, I keep a close look on analytics and SEO optimization. By tracking metrics like views, clicks, and conversion.

I can see where resonates most with my audience and refine my strategy to focus on what’s actually working. Every piece of content is created with SEO in mind so that it can reach as many people as possible and help my brand stand out in search results.

  • EMAIL MARKETING

My email marketing efforts happen mainly on Substack. I have already spoken about it multiple times.

I feel like that is the best way to connect so that’s where I am for the most part on my content and that’s where I am building a community. Substack is user-friendly and makes it easy to stay engaged and to build a community of peers without the pressure of feeling like you have to perform. So email marketing is one of the best ways to really build a lasting relationship with your audience.

  • AFFILIATE MARKETING

So use it to offer value, foster trust, and provide content that keeps them coming back. I have implemented an affiliate marketing program that allows affiliates to promote my products and earn a commission. So they receive 25% of everything they sell which incentivizes them while extending my reach to new audiences through word of mouth and obviously social networks.

So affiliate marketing can be a powerful way to grow your base especially if you are starting out. By offering a fair commission you encourage affiliates to actively promote your offer and expanding your reach while rewarding them for doing so.

  • PR & LINK BUILDING

So I put effort into building my brand’s credibility also through PR efforts and link building by sending information to credible news network and websites and not only increase my authority but also improve my SEO through backlinks from reputable sources.

So this helps me position my brand as a trustworthy resource enhancing both my visibility and my reputation online. So PR and link building can be very great powerful ways to increase brand awareness and website credibility and boost your search ranking.

Each of these elements is tailored to meet my audience where they are so providing them with the resources that they need. I continually refine my strategy focusing on genuine value, building trust so that I am able to create a brand experience that resonates, supports and engages.

7.     Registering my LLC in the USA

So in the end, one of the key decisions that propelled my business forward was choosing to register my LLC in the U.S.A. This step allowed me to truly open my brand to a global audience, offering the flexibility to operate on an international level. By setting up in the U.S.A, I gain access to tools and payment options that were not available in my home country, most notably Stripe, which I use as a primary payment processor.

So Stripe’s compatibility with various currencies and regions makes it easier for my clients from all over the world to purchase my products and services seamlessly, building trust and providing convenience for my customers wherever they may be.

So this strategic move allowed me to build my brand and bring my offering to a much wider audience than I could have reached otherwise. In this digital and competitive space, having a business structure that supports global reach is essential. So that’s exactly why I established my LLC in the U.S.A., which allowed me to do all the things that I just mentioned.

For entrepreneurs, considering an international presence will be very beneficial, especially if you were limited in terms of payment processes like I was. So it opens doors to better payment gateways, global customers, like I said, growth opportunity, making it worth your while and giving you long-term benefits, obviously. So this decision not only streamlined my operation but set me up to embrace and serve a truly global market, making it one of the most valuable steps in my journey as a digital entrepreneur.

  • HOW TO INCORPORATE

So here is how I did it. I researched the best states to incorporate in. After some research, I decided to set up in Wyoming, a state which is business-friendly and simple in terms of legal requirements.

I hired a registered agent because I wasn’t physically present and I needed an agent where I was incorporating. They are essentially responsible for receiving legal documents on the behalf of my business. Then I filed the necessary paperwork.

I work with an online service to file the necessary documents and officially register my LLC. Then they helped me open a bank account. After setting up my LLC, I opened a U.S.A. bank account which made managing my finances much easier.

  • INCORPORATING WITH THE RIGHT COMPANY

So setting up my LLC gave me the legal structure that I needed to operate officially and legally and it provided me the peace of mind that comes from knowing a business is protected and compliant within U.S.A. laws.
